Looks like Andrei Zmievski imported the Smarty code into PHP CVS. Additionaly he seems to be in the process of moving the Smarty homepage over to some php.net subdomain. I don't think that this is a good idea: In my opinion it would be much wiser to put Smarty into PEAR or to keep it on an independent domain. Generally I don't see a reason why the PHP Group should give away hosting capacity to single PHP projects (like Smarty et.al.) - PEAR is there and can be used for such hosting issues.
