I saw (no pun intended) this movie in a Sneak Preview, which is common in cinemas across Germany. Basically it's what you would call a preview but you never know which movie you get until the curtain is drawn.
I'm not really into the horror genre, but since I was there with friends and because I consider leaving in such situations stupid, I stayed. Lucky me! If you liked Seven and Cube you will like Saw, too.
The photographer Adam and the surgeon Lawrence Gordon wake up in a run-down room, both chained to the wall. They share the room with a dead body and it does not take them too long to realize that there is only one way to survive the day: Kill the other one and amputate the chained leg with a hacksaw. This is the starting point of a packing story centering around a psychopath, his victims, two cops, Adam, and Lawrence and his family.
At the end of the movie I once more came to the conclusion that nothing is as it appears, and I had 100 minutes of solid thrill, which was worth 4 €.
