T-Online, who is one of the biggest ISPs in Germany and my DSL provider, does not provide a free SMTP relay server for it's customer as of March. If the customers want to keep on sending email via their T-Online account, they have several choices:

Pay 2.95 EUR per month for using the relay server
Use T-Online's own dialin/email/browser software, which is pretty similar to the AOL software (== crap)
Look for another relay server

Great alternatives, no?

I'm in the lucky position of being able to use another relay server, but I guess there will be a lot of people running into trouble soon.
