During this whole Mark Jen and Google fuss in the past days it once again became clear that there are still a lot of people that haven't learned a single bit from the Dooce and her fellow sufferers. They still are shocked when they are laid off because they talked about their work or shared details of their employer's company strategy on their private weblogs.
Huh? Excuse me, but how in the world can someone expect sympathy from the company in this case? Especially in Jen's situation, where everybody knows that Google is terribly picky about public relations, it is (in my humble opinion) stupid to write about work right from the start of an employment contract.
Sure, there were cases in which people got fired unnecessarily, but that's no reason for repeating the same mistake over and over again.
So to put it bluntly:
When will the blogosphere as a whole realize that they cannot write about company internals without making sure they are allowed to do so?
